Kingston, Jamaica- November 4, 2009 – Wisynco, distributors of Ocean Spray WATA, is the title Sponsor of the inaugural staging of the sporting event Wolmers 5K Road Race and Relay.

The track event is produced by the Wolmer’s Boys School Physical Education Department and will be held at Wolmer’s Boys School, National Heroes Circle in Kingston on Sunday, November 22, 2009.

100% of the proceeds will go to the Wolmers Sports Development Organization to improve the facilities and equipment for Wolmers Boys School.

William Mahfood, Managing Director of Wisynco, notes that Wisynco continues to aid in the development of sports for our Jamaican youth because it is more than just physical activity, but “can be a valuable tool in a child’s development.”  Kids today are inspired by athletes and want to be like Shelly-Ann Frasier, Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, to name a few. These person are a result of a strong foundation that comes in part from their coaches, school communities, and participation in sporting events.
Studies show that with sports, kids are likely to do better at school, discover new skills and abilities, are less likely to try drugs, and they become more emotionally balanced- able to handle adversity and disappointments.

Wisynco’s contribution to the staging of Wolmers 5K Road Race and Relay will extend to the provision of hydration stations, complimentary Ocean Spray WATA, a Fitness Report Card for each participant that will provide personal information including their height (cm), weight (Kg), fat (%), water (%), muscle (%) and calories measured along with their race time.  To aid in registration, the top 5 schools to register 50 or more entries will receive 20 cases of Ocean Spray WATA for use at their next sporting event. Lastly, the first place male and female student will also receive an all-inclusive day trip for 4 peers and chaperon to Cool Running’s Water Park in Negril.
