WISYNCO GROUP Limited has been appointed franchise holder for the Coca-Cola range of products in Jamaica, effective Monday, May 29, Coca-Cola (Jamaica) Limited announced yesterday.Wholesalers said Coca-Cola, the popular carbonated drink, had been off the supermarket shelves after Facey Commodity Limited stopped distributing the product. According to an agent at Facey Commodity, the organisation relinquished its distribution commitments on April 14.

THE POPULAR Jamaican bottled water brand Wata, manufactured and distributed by Wisynco Group Limited, will, come November 12, be associated with an event that brings fine dining and affordability to the pockets of the Jamaican people. Wata, an associate sponsor of Kingston Restaurant Week (KRW), scheduled for November 12-19 will be the official drinking bottled water for this event, providing patrons with high quality, purified drinking water.

ANDREW MAHFOOD, Wisynco Group director of finance, has urged students of the Donald Quarrie High School in east Kingston to seize the opportunity to obtain a proper education in order to secure their future as productive citizens and contribute to nation building.
Mr. Mahfood, who was speaking recently at a ceremony to unveil a school sign donated by Wisynco Trading Limited, told the youngsters "use the opportunity you have now to study hard and work hard so that when you graduate you can get a good job and make all Jamaica proud."

THE Wisynco Group, makers of the Wata brand of bottled water, has donated more than 2,000 cases of Wata to the Government's hurricane relief efforts.Hundreds of thousands of Jamaicans have been without water since the passage of Hurricane Ivan and are in dire need of the precious commodity. Wisynco's donation will be distributed to affected persons islandwide by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, which is co-ordinating relief efforts.

West Indies Synthetics, the plastic products manufacturing subsidiary of the Wisynco Group, is building a new 25,000 square-foot factory at its Central Village compound, for an investment that, eventually, will run to an estimated $110 million, officials say."We broke ground about three weeks ago and are hopeful that the factory will be completed by the end of August or early September," said William Mahfood, general manager of the Wisynco Group.

Firstly, he was born on the 16th of that month -- in 1965. Of equal importance, he says, is the fact that the elder generation of Mahfoods, all four brothers -- Sam, Joe, Ferdie and Robin -- came together on or near that day, to create West Indies Synthetics Company (Wisynco).
